Community Council Volunteer – Community Living BC

WITH COMMUNITY LIVING BRITISH COLUMBIA (CLBC)

Summary

Community Living BC invites community members to join their local Community Council, a volunteer-run group dedicated to building inclusive, welcoming environments for people with developmental disabilities. Council volunteers collaborate with CLBC staff and community partners to support the organization’s vision of “communities of belonging” where people of all abilities can fully participate. These roles focus on strengthening local inclusion efforts, amplifying lived experiences, and encouraging meaningful community connections.

Volunteers on Community Councils come from diverse backgrounds—family members, business professionals, self-advocates, students, seniors, and anyone seeking to contribute to positive change. Council members help guide local initiatives, share insights from their communities, and support projects that promote citizenship, accessibility, and belonging. These positions offer a meaningful way to influence inclusive practices across B.C. while building relationships with others committed to improving quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.
